A British Female Commercial Voice over in the USA
How do I Choose the right voice over to represent My brand?
This one of the most important decisions when it comes to producing your commercial.
Your customers need to relate to the person behind the voiceover, trust the voice, be compelled to take action.
Let’s start with who your customers are…
Put yourself in your customers shoes, who is their best friend? Who do they look up to? Who do they aspire to be? A consumer is far more likely to respond positively to an advert if they can connect to the voice that goes with it. Your brand voice needs to be able to inspire, empathise or educate your ideal customer without being jarring or annoying!
What does “relatable” really mean?
A relatable voice can mean myriad of styles. Empathetic or excited? Smooth or straight-talking? Intimate or intense? I use my years of acting experience to put myself in the position talking directly to your customer. Who am I speaking to? How can I connect with them one on one?
So now, choosing your voice over artist isn’t just about picking someone who “has a nice voice”, it’s about finding that perfect talent that will help your customer trust, and fall in love with your brand!
What can I do to help you and your customers?
Recently, I have voiced commercials for Alfa Romeo, Disney, Saatva and Babbel. I love to bring a charm to the copy, to put myself in the consumer’s shoes and use a natural, conversational style of voiceover to make the viewer feel like I’m sat right next to them on the sofa, having a chat about the brands I love.
I can either work from my broadcast quality recording studio with Source Connect near Seattle, or come in to a studio of your choice in the surrounding area. Working together we can help your brand connect with your dream customers on a personal level. Driving action or promoting a new product or service. The right voice over can speak volumes.

What Style of Commercial voice over is popular with consumers right now?
The voice over style for commercials has changed greatly over the last few years. Consumers aren’t feeling connected to the old “announcer” style of VoiceOver, but instead want to feel like they’re hearing from an old friend. Like they’re having the product recommended to them by someone they know and trust. The conversational style of VoiceOver is very popular right now, and it’s not an easy style to nail! It has also become ever more popular to choose a regional accent for a commercial, people feel like they can relate more to someone rather than being talked down to. I have a very subtle accent, I call it “Neutral British” but as I grew up in Shropshire it’s a miss mash of dialects! A little northern English, a little West Midland, even a hint of Welsh in there. People often can’t tell where I am from but I’m not speaking in an RP accent in my regular voice! This came be perfect if you’re looking for a voice over artist with a regional British accent, but don’t want to be too specific!

I’m a US brand - Why would I choose a Female British Voiceover?
A British voice in the USA may not sound like a local. But the perception is that a British voice is trustworthy, it’s sophisticated, it’s luxurious! When your customers hear a British voice over as part of your brand they know that you are world wise, that you have experience outside of the local area and that you are a quality company.
What comes into your mind when you hear a British woman talking? Because maybe that is just what you’d like your customers to hear!
