The Red Eye Season One Book is out now!
A collection of travel stories from the view of Cabin Crew
About a year ago, I was thinking about the stories that I have from my years travelling around the world as International Cabin Crew. I wanted to document them somehow, as many were somewhat unbelievable! Stories about unruly passengers and air rage, stories of the adventures that we have on layovers, and those key experiences we have in life that change the way we see the world. Life as a flight attendant certainly offered many opportunities to have these experiences!
I had enjoyed narrating a true crime podcast in the previous months, and wondered if I could combine my passion for documentary style narration with my stories from flying. That’s when I thought about Kaylie Kay. I had narrated an audiobook of Kaylie’s called Because She Could and knew I loved her storytelling style. She is also cabin crew and her book series is based on a fictional airline.
Between us, we came up with the plan for The Red Eye Podcast, telling the true stories of flight attendants, but in a fictional, audiobook style! This way we could protect the identities of those who donated their stories, and give the listeners a short escape into our exciting world.
The podcast is now 6 months old, and we have 15,000 downloads worldwide, ranking in the top 5% globally! We felt like it was time to start documenting these stories in a book, for those who prefer to escape by reading!
